Benefits for Schools

  • Being part of an influential and positive network- which includes schools, colleges, artists and cultural organisations as well as the business sector.
  • An easy way for you to engage with the wider cultural sector across the city and beyond
  • Investment in your own pupil’s creative, social and cultural development
  • The programme aims to nurture and support a generation of confident, responsible, culturally active and knowledgeable children and young people – something we feel sure will appeal to your school governing body.
  • Quick, informed updates on the cultural offer and forthcoming programmes
  • As the programme develops each school will have its own cultural ambassadors – able to lead peer to peer activities and be seen as role models. These young people will be tasked with promoting and disseminating information about the cultural offer to their school communities after receiving training and first hand exposure to much of the forthcoming product.
  • Membership will provide a head start for those schools keen to be part of the Arts Mark community nationally with an excellent CPD programme ready to roll out across the city.
  • Through increased access to the Arts Award programme schools will be better placed to make use of the progression routes offerd from Discover and Explore through to Gold (which remember offers 35 UCAS points)!
  •  Staff can have potentially much closer links with the creative and cultural sector across the city and beyond which could include being able to influence the type of educational activities that are developed to support touring exhibitions and productions programmed in the city
  • Additional opportunities for access to curricular enrichment and contacts for after school cultural and creative clubs and activities.
  • The ability to build into curriculum planning some of the cultural offer that is available including prior knowledge the products and events that are forward planned for Peterborough months in advance.
  • Better links with industry led Information Advice and Guidance through the National Skills Academy but rooted and delivered locally.
  • Potentially much closer reciprocal relationships with the creative and cultural sector across the city and beyond.
